Deciding how, when, and where to Harvest |
Habitat Planning utilizes spatial (place) GIS-based models to decide which forest stands are to be harvested, by what method, at which time, in order to meet the management goals for the area. We are able to develop spatial maps of recommended treatments, and information on current and future predicted habitat conditions for operations staff, or managers to consider when scheduling planned harvest blocks. Following are examples of a few maps that might be provided to the customer. The map to the right shows when and where stands are most-often scheduled for a particular treatment, and the two other maps illustrate when stands begin providing, and cease to provide, a defined habitat type. |
